Author : Dr. Rinku S Goel and Dr. Sachin Goel
Abstract
Heritage tourism has emerged as a significant contributor to India's tourism sector, with Delhi playing a central role due to its rich historical legacy. This research paper explores the dynamics of heritage tourism in Delhi post-1991 through a comprehensive SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. By focusing on prominent heritage sites such as Red Fort, Qutub Minar, and Humayun's Tomb, the study evaluates the impact of conservation efforts, commercialization, infrastructural development, and tourist satisfaction. The findings suggest that while Delhi has made commendable progress in showcasing its heritage, challenges such as over-tourism, inadequate maintenance, and lack of community involvement persist. The study concludes with sustainable strategies to enhance heritage tourism and balance economic benefits with cultural preservation.
