Author : Pema Rinzin

Abstract

This study explores the impact of teaching strategies on students’ motivation to learn effectively. It begins by acknowledging the multifaceted nature of learning, influenced by the learner’s environment, emotional state, intelligence, and teaching strategies. Emphasis is placed on the critical role that motivation-both intrinsic and extrinsic-plays in facilitating effective learning. The study identifies key factors, such as a safe classroom atmosphere, emotionally supportive teaching, and diverse instructional methods, as essential to enhancing learner engagement. Drawing on the perspectives of various scholars, the literature review further supports the argument that motivation acts as a catalyst for academic success and behavioral transformation in learners. The primary aim is to examine how different teaching strategies affect motivation and consequently lead to effective learning, while also identifying best practices to make students more self-directed. Through this, the study seeks to inform educators on the importance of adopting motivational teaching strategies for optimal learning outcomes.
