To study the traditional method of representing architecture and its application in paintings

Author : Sidhi Garg and Dr. Vibha Lodhi

Abstract

Rajasthani miniature paintings have a long history of depicting various architectural settings. These variations can be found not only between regions, but even within a region as a substyle of a main School. Pali's paintings, for example, are regarded a sub-style of the Marwar School. Pali art developed its own individuality under the shadow of the Marwar School. Components of architecture, vistas, space division, and various forms of compositions and projections are among the architectural settings that demonstrate the originality of Rajasthan miniature paintings. In terms of architecture in painting, it was a widely accepted and adopted tendency among Rajasthan's traditional artists. As a result, a large number of paintings depicting various styles of architectural features were produced. The exchange of artistic styles was also a typical occurrence, owing to the migration of artists from one location to another. As a result, many of the compositions are identical to paintings from other regions. As previously said, representation architecture in Rajasthani miniature paintings is not always an exact portrayal of a real structure. The majority of the works are artists' imaginations that are put according to the tale of the painting, while some exhibit representations of real architecture from the late 18th century in Udaipur's royal paintings. It is vital to see the types of architectural components represented in miniature paintings of different Schools before assessing the space of architecture and compositional details.
