The impact of technology on student mental health

Author : Dr. Sanjay Kumar

Abstract

The integration of digital technologies into educational environments has transformed traditional learning spaces into dynamic, interconnected ecosystems. While these advancements have opened new avenues for personalized learning, collaboration, and access to information, they have also introduced new challenges-particularly concerning student mental health. This paper explores the dual nature of technology's influence on students' psychological well-being. Drawing from current empirical research, it examines the benefits, including improved access to mental health resources and enhanced social connectivity, alongside the risks, such as screen addiction, cyberbullying, and heightened anxiety. The study also proposes practical, evidence-informed strategies for educators and policymakers to promote digital wellness and mental resilience among students.
